Let's talk about it - questions! stories! etc!

I'll start with a question... possibly a touchy subject, but parents of small children/toddlers -- what do you do for discipline?

We have recently implemented timeouts with my 20 month old -- mostly for standing/being wild on the couch (he keeps falling off - ugh). I'm not 100% sure he gets it -- he sits wherever we put him until we tell him timeout is all done (1.5-2mins). The whole process is very unemotional for everyone involved -- We make sure not to display frustration or anger, just matter-of-factness with a brief explanation that he's going to timeout and why. He doesn't even seem to mind -- but it does seem to be helping to at least redirect his attention as he usually goes and plays somewhere else besides the couch after a timeout.

Anyone have any tips, success stories, etc?

I have nothing in the way of discipline yet.. we're still trying to work on getting her to understand what "no" means. :| We're still on the young side at 10 months, though, so hoping she'll pick it up soon. ...ha.

it sounds like you're doing it right!
as he gets older, the hard part will be following through. don't threaten if you're not going to follow through with it.

oh, and pick your battles. it's not worth getting into it about something that really isnt thaaaaat important.

you'll learn as he grows up.
some punishments don't work for some kids.
my youngest son was ok sitting on a step or in the corner for timeout, but take away a book or his ds during a car ride and he wasn't having any of that.

My boys are 13 and 16. But it feels like not long ago that they were little fellas. I enjoy reading about everyone else's little ones.
Mine are old enough to help me out on some HITs, and tell me how old I am when I learn something new on the internet. It's not my fault the internet wasn't really a thing before I was nearly 30!

I have twins, 5 years old. I mostly turk while they're at preschool, or during "quiet time" :) Can't really call it naptime anymore.
I couldn't imagine having twins. Is it hard? Or you are used to it, so it's the norm for you?

I have two biological kids, the boy is 11 (he will be 12 in May) and my girl passed away as an infant just over 14 years ago :(

I have two other kids I claim as mine...they are 23 year old woman and a 21 year old man (omg, they are all growed up!) My bff birthed them, but early in their lives she talked me into quit my job and being their nanny to keep them out of daycare (and so I could more easily finish college). I've known my bff for 37 years now, so they've always had "two moms" in their minds.

I love raising kids. I'm already getting sad that I'm about 6 years away from being "done" with them living in my home.

Recently I've noticed a lot of turking parents on the Daily Hits Thread. As a turking parent to 2 kiddos ages 4 & 2, I completely understand that our turking approach is completely different than those without kiddos! Especially for those with the baby/toddler aged littles! This is a thread where we can come together and share our knowledge, advice, and support each other while we try to make a little money to spoil our babies rotten (or you know be responsible and pay bills and stuff Lol).

I'll start the thread by introducing myself. I'm currently a stay at home Mommy living in Ft Myers, FL and have been turking going on 3 years with over 125k hits submitted. Mturk helped me get through college with my kiddos as many other jobs were not this flexible. I just graduated last May with a BS in Elementary Education with endorsements in Science & Math. Since my babies haven't started school yet and completing my degree with them was exhausting to say the least, I'm still turking and doing odd jobs until this summer so that I can actually spend some time with them while they're little. Catch is, I have to meet my daily goal in order to really relax and spend time with them. Somedays they make this near impossible! Lol

I'm looking forward to meeting all the other Turking Parents and seeing where this thread goes :) Gotta go play referee, apparently my kiddos forgot how to share! :) TTYL

I have a 14mo old girl. Turking is harder now that she's older but I've increased my productivity nonetheless. I usually turk when she's napping or eating depending on the hit. She likes sitting with my when I do virals. On days when she's being super clingy or whiny it's super hard to meet goal.

What are your goals?
I am trying to do $25 a day. Which is hard on days when the baby is whiney.

Thanks for starting this thread :)

I'm a parent of a beautiful little 2 year old doll myself.

I guess it's kind of odd how I came about turking. I was teaching for several years until I decided to stay home with her. I acutally was in the middle of my pregnancy with my second child last December/January, when I unfortunately lost her. I stumbled upon MTG at the beginning of February last year after spending a month mindlessly doing awful Brelig's and realized some things I could be doing better (i.e. not doing Brelig's). MTG became a place I really enjoyed, and actually helped me get through losing my second child. Kind of weird and heavy I know, but I think that's why I enjoy this group of people so much now. :)

I'm in the trenches with all the other turkparents, trying to make that money while having a wild little munchkin on the run.

$20 a day minimum for now but a weekly goal of $150. I've only met my weekly goal once this year so far.

TQueen @TQueen oh my lawd, she's adorable!!

here are two of my son (I'm sorry they're so huge...everything I upload to imgur is gigantic since I upload from my phone)
