For me, it was any of the Baldur's Gate, and any Dungeon Siege titles. Probably have a couple thousand hours spent across both, and I have great memories of running gameshark on my PS2 with my cousin back in the day. In my opinion they just don't make games like they used to, much like everything else.

I'll do this for a few genres I like because I don't know if I have an absolute favorite genre of video games.

FPS
Doom (I & II. The new one's really good too though)
Borderlands 2

JRPG
Final Fantasy X - All-time favorite game
Persona 3 or 4 (they're about equal imo)

Western RPG
Diablo II
Guild Wars - I had a lot of fun playing this and making a guild with my brothers and friends from high school. It's kinda disappointing that since it's MMO-ish and the community has basically died out it's the only game on this list I can never really experience again.

RTS
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Warcraft 3

Sports
NBA Jam
NBA Street v2

In my opinion they just don't make games like they used to, much like everything else.
I'm not sure I share the same opinion. Big budget games that have a bunch of scripted elements and tutorials that last for hours bore me to death more often than not but I've been really enjoying a lot of games in the $10-$20 range lately. Rocket League and Stardew Valley would probably both make my 20 favorite games of all-time list.

I probably like different types of games than what you seem to like most, though

I'm sorry there's no way I can narrow this down to two games so I'll break it down by genre as well.

FPS
-Half Life 2 (ep 1 and 2 included)
-TF2
(Call me a Valve junkie, these games are flawless)

RPG
-Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion
-Red Dead Redemption
- Fallout New Vegas

MMO

-Guild Wars
-APB (It's a shame that this didn't get bigger. I had so much fun with it)

Strategy
-Civilization 4
-Starcraft

Game that's hard to fit in a category but it's one of my favorites

Mount and Blade, all of them. Put the most time into M&B With Fire and Sword

Final Fantasy X - All-time favorite game
:yesyes:
Wouldn't call it my all-time favorite but it's in my top 5 for sure. Speaking of which...

  1. Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)
  2. Legend of Dragoon (PS1)
  3. Dark Cloud 2 (PS2)
  4. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64)
  5. Final Fantasy X (PS2)
Also Guild Wars 1 was the shit

i don't even know if i can have a favorite genre since i'm willing to try almost anything

for turn based strategy/tactical games, the original shining force and banner saga come to mind
for sims, animal crossing series and stardew valley
sandbox survivals, terraria and starbound
episodic games, life is strange and the walking dead
roguelikes, nuclear throne

then there's a bunch of games i've loved where i don't usually like the genre, like rocket league

For what it's worth, I still play GW1 on a regular basis. I have a good 4k hours logged, with most of it being afking in 'Spamadan' during the xmas events. I played since the very beginning, and I refuse to quit playing until I get GWAMM on my 10 year old character, regardless of the amount of 1 year breaks I take.

edit: I'm 4 titles away.

edit 2: Gaile Gray (old community manager) had her account hacked a few weeks back, and the guy came to Kamadan talking in the mod channel. Started teleporting people to pre searing, tried to say he was going to give her one and only mini frog away, and banned a lot of the botter guilds.

Red dead redemption is LEGENDARY.
I might go and buy another copy.

Fallout new Vegas was so great, the fixed just about everything that was wrong with 3 and added so much awesome. I went through that game 3x in a row with different characters when it first came out, and still pick it up every once in a while to go through again.

Everyone thinks I'm so weird for loving the original animal crossing on gamecube.

Still need to catch that damn Banded dragonfly.

Borderlands 2 was everything I never knew I wanted from a game.

Counter-Strike and Unreal Tournament, games that rely soley on skill and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's always gripping when I see two players left and they duke it out over a ticking bomb.

Animal Crossing on GC was the tits. I was so emotionally invested in that game, I was totally heartbroken when one of my fave neighbors got booted out ... to make way for a sign pointing to the dump. RIP Rosie :biblethump:

On topic, my top few would definitely be Secret of Mana, WoW, Path of Exile, Majora's Mask and Dota 2. WoW has quite literally changed my life in so many different ways that it's unbelievable.

I've played a lot of games and I'll probably play a lot more in the future. I began gaming about 9 years ago, when I was 10. My first PC was kinda crap, but I got to play Mortal Kombat 4, Quake 2 and the first Half-Life. Back in the day I really liked them. Oh and also Re-Volt, that was nice too. I don't remember much of the order I played my games in but here are a few lists.
My favorite oldies:
Age of Empires 2 / Age of Mythology, Hercules, Quake 2, GTA Vice City, Rise of Nations, NFS Most Wanted, MK4, Quake 2 and Warcraft 3. There's my childhood.

My favorite single player RPGS:
The Witcher franchise - one of the best games ever made imo. I can't really explain how much I idolize it.
The Mass Effect franchise. - I'm a sucker for space fantasy stuff and I like the AI implications of the main plot.
The Dragon Age franchise - gotta love the humor in the first two games and the gameplay in the third.
Deus Ex. All of it. It kinda goes hand in hand with my passion for transhumanism.
Bethesda's Fallout 3/4 and Skyrim, though only modding gives those game more than 100 play-hours imo.

Other singple players I consider nice & worth mentioning:
Minecraft, GTA SA/VC/4/5, Dishonored, Hitman BM/Absolution/2016, MK9, MGS V, and there's also Postal 2 if I take into consideration my guilty pleasure of dismembering virtual cannon fodder.

Multiplayer:
World of Warcraft - oh....the time I've spent playing (and I still play when nostalgia kicks in, on warmane's Icecrown @ alliance). Around 9 years of wow, but "only" around 6 years of active playing
League of Rage... (LoL) - it was kinda nice before it began throwing patches and updates out so damn frequently that I gave up on it. (I was and am a filthy casual that can't be bothered to learn new mechanics every month). I named it league of rage because the community always drove me mad :\
World of Tanks - I've been playing it since mid 2015 and am still playing on the Eastern European server, currently at tier 8.

Indies:
Prison Architect, Tormentum - Dark Sorrow, Ori and the Blind Forest.

:ahhh:Looking up at my post and all those games...geezus, maybe I've spent a bit too much time in front of my PC.

I feel ya. I had a guild with a few friends and my uncle on TBC WoW but those times can't be brought back :(
