I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but how many of you get your sole income from MTurk (and other online sources).

To those who do what is your secret to getting a living wage?

Long story short I was selling my house, so I put my notice in at my job. The buyer backed out, so now I'm left in an empty house (everything is packed or sold) and no job. I would love to turk full time, and my expenses are super low (~$1000/mo). Just until I move so I don't have to start somewhere only to leave in a month if the house sells shortly.

Just turking full-time and making a living is almost impossible. Very few people can accomplish it. The only reason I turk is for cash in my pocket. i.e. beer money. I don't do it to pay bills or anything thats what my normal job is for.

True, but I live on $1200/mo right now anyways, and I see people making $60-$70 on an average day, with good days going higher. I was hoping with my already low income transitioning wouldn't be difficult.

If you can live on $1200 a month, then mTurk can make you rich.

Mturk wouldn't give me the stability I need but it does bring in a nice cushion. Even if someone wasn't making really great money in another job this would be a nice supplement for them in addition to their outside job.

Woohoo bring on the balloons and the big check! Honestly though I think it will ar least get us by until we move.
Not to burst your bubble, but hitting 60-70 a day as a beginner will be very difficult (and stressful.) The people you see doing that on a daily basis have been doing this for a while, have built up a solid collection of qualifications, and have spent a lot of time improving their turking strategy/efficiency/knowledge.

Mechanical Turk is very inconsistent for beginners, you just can't rely on enough decent work being available. While you could probably hit $1000 a month with enough effort, you won't enjoy it.

Huh. I've been turking for about a year and when given an 8 hour day the 3 or 4 times I've tried I hit $60 no problem. Guess I got lucky.

Haha it saves me most weeks. Without it we would be struggling, but it gives me just the boost to survive, even if it is tight.

So did you sell your house?

No.. We're on our third realtor due to lack of exposure. I actually had someone from church bring us dinner since my wife had surgery. They just moved in to area first quarter this year and didn't even know it was for sale. It's been a bit of a mess, but I just got a job and enrolled the kids in preschool... So naturally it will sell soon.
