Hi guys,

I have been working on mturk for half a month and it has been great so far... but last saturday something really weird happened to me, now I need some help to understand what should I do because I feel totally lost.

Last saturday I received eight rejections out of nowhere. I was sure that I did all the task right so I contacted the requester and asked him what was wrong with my work. This is what he replied:

Hey xxx,

Sorry there was a glitch on my side. Your rejections will be reverted soon.

The point is that the week is almost over and I did not have any news from this person. So, I wonder if I should wait a little bit longer or maybe contact Amazon to ask for help with those HITs rejected.

I feel that I am being treated unfair and feel helpless, what you guys recommend me to do? Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

I am sorry to say that Amazon won't help you in this matter. They never get in between the requester and the turker. However, you could send him some information about how to reverse a rejection - you know, just as a gentle reminder :). It sounds like he wants to work with you, so that's good news.

Also, I urge you to check TO and perhaps TV to see what other people are saying (perhaps this happened to many people and he's getting ready to do the reversals. Have you looked him up to see what is happening?

Thanks for the quick answer.

Well, this is a requester with no reviews on TO. I am sure that I am not the only one since there were like hundreds of HITs going on, I was just one of many.

I am surprised to hear that Amazon is just a passive spectator on this. This could have harmed my working profile severely, really really bad. Now, after reading you, I am considering to contact him next week to ask him politely for more information. Anyway, I am afraid there is no much that I can do...

the requester has 30 days to fix the rejection. So, there is still time.

But yes, the turking world can be difficult - that's why one of the first pieces of advice is to go slow and build a cushion. That way, you can handle a few rejections without it destroying your approval rating. Once you have a few thousand - or tens of thousands :)
of hits approved, a few rejections isn't that big of a deal. You can take some risks.
