Because we needed it, whether you realized it or not.

Recently I picked up a Graphic Novel that I bought... two Novembers ago??? Anyway, it was the second volume of Jason Aaron's run on Wolverine: Weapon X. It was a good read. Then today I've wasted pretty much the entire day reading Jason Aaron's run on the Max (Marvel's adult reader imprint) Punisher book. Freaking good stuff.

So I'm adding Jason Aaron to my list o' favorite creators. Along with folks like Cullen Bunn, Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker, Jonathan Hickman, Warren Ellis, Jimmy Palmiotti Scott Snyder, and artists like Tony S. Daniel, David Finch, Darwyn Cooke, Moritat, and Amanda Conner... and that's like.. a super culled list and in no specific order.

Anyway, this is obviously a thread for talking about comics. The first thing I'm going to say in that vein... besides all the stuff I already said, is to listen to Essjay and read Rat Queens. That's a fun book. So is Sex Criminals, despite the slanderous things I'm sure Lepi will say about it.

My internet was out for several hours a few weeks ago, so I used the time without distractions to catch up on comic reading.

I read:
  • Archie #5
  • Paper Girls #1-4
  • We Stand on Guard #1-6 (re-read of the first three issues, but necessary since I was finishing it up)
  • PLAIN Janes
  • Giant Days #1-4
And whenever I am in need of some comforting violence and swearing, I flip through my deluxe Rat Queens.

So I'm catching up on East of West, and as I've been reading it, I can't help but notice how similar it is to watching really good anime.

I finished up Giant Days last night. So glad they decided to make it an ongoing. Have the new Paper Girls to read. Currently reading Bryan Lee O'Malley's Seconds, which I am super digging so far.

Hahahahaholy shit, I don't know where else to share, so I'll just put it here.

I've been working on what started as a NaNoWriMo project a few years ago that I put aside when I realized I actually wanted it to be a comic instead. I might have found an artist (a good friend of mine) who is interested in turning it into a webcomic with me. She just wants to draw, not write. I want to write, not draw. SO. EXCITE.

Awesomesauce. I'm jealous. I need an artistic friend to make the same deal with.

Double post on accounta slow connection not loading the page fast enough. One more reason I hope the morons that came up with the bright idea of data throttling have an unfortunate stapler related masturbation incident.

So I got a kindle for christmas, and I'd been looking for a comic reader besides comixology. Something that I could upload those digital books that I have procured via... alternative means, shall we say?...that is compatible with the amazon operating system I found one. Now don't worry admins, I'm not giving anyone any information on where to procure things in this way, this is about the reader itself, which is 100% legit, and can be used to read digital comics procured by whatever means one wishes to employ. It's every bit as good as the Comixology reader, but you are not limited to the books you have purchased through comixology. Now, comixology is a free app that is compatible with the amazon os, but you can't upload other comics to your comixology library. All you can read via comixology are the ones purchased through comixology. So free though it may be, it's expensive to use. This alternative app, called ComiCat, costs $3.00 on the amazon app store, but after that one time fee you can upload any CBR, CBZ, CB7, CBT, PDF, etc., etc. file you like. I don't know how many of you guys use a kindle to read comics, but I was really disappointed when the comic reader I have on my PC wasn't compatible with my kindle, and had been looking for a decent alternative. This is it.

Is it the newer Fire? There's a script you can run that allows you to access the Google Play store. From there you can get Perfect Viewer, which I looooooooooooove.

As an aside, you and the missus should totally be reading I Hate Fairyland. ZOMFG.

I keep seeing that on the shelf and considering it, but I'm really bad about picking up new books.

The trade will be out in April for $9.99. Worth it.

Non-turk related question, but figured it can't hurt to ask because someone might be able to help...

Long story short I have about 300 comic books I'm looking to sell and only want to sell on eBay as a last resort. What other options are out there for selling comics books? I haven't had the chance to go through all of them yet... but they seem like a good mix of Marvel, DC, and Walt Disney comics ranging from 1960 -1991. They are all in excellent condition and I bought them for $1/ea because the guy is moving and doesn't want to deal with them. Hoping to make my money back plus some. I have a feeling that some are pretty valuable, but don't know for sure just yet. *fingers crossed*

Send me a PM and let me know what you have, I'll tell you what your chances of making a profit are. I'm actually fairly knowledgeable about that.
