It started about 12 years ago due, I think, to two lost jobs and my home. But now it's fairly chronic ... it's "clinical," as opposed to "episodic," the latter which we all suffer from from time to time. I'm on three different anti-depressants. ... And I don't mind talking about in the open so that perhaps the discussion might help someone else. It doesn't help that I live in this town where there is noting. I need to move. But I think I'm fearful of that because of my age. And I pretty well subsist on social security and what little I make her. And I've never opened up like this to anyone before, so I think that's good. :)
that sounds awful. glad you opened up though. I feel like i'm in a similar situation... just feeling like I don't have enough. To be honest, I've never even had a decent paying job for longer than 3 months. I graduated college in 2009 thinking that because I've been getting A's and B's my whole life that I was somehow prepared for the world. A year and 5 jobs later, I was bagging groceries. Still do it today when I'm not turking. My depression comes from the fact that I always thought that the hard work I did in school would lead to me having an awesome career and lots of money, and now it feels like I'm so far behind even the people that dropped out of middle school.

I got a question for you... you can answer it here if you want or you could ask it to yourself... What would have to (realistically) happen in your life that would make everything perfect?

part of your problem is you're comparing yourself to others. You cant live like that. You're not behind people that dropped out of middle school. You're still you. You see the world around you and think why I dont I have that? Life is unfair like that. Why do other people get those jobs? I cant answer that. But, I do know that in order to be happy, you gotta start looking at the small victories instead of the big picture. And in due time even if takes you till you're 50. You'll reach that goal. it's not a sprint it's a marathon

Hello people. Sorry I've been gone. January has been... quite a month. I started back to college last week, I made my trip to Ohio like I normally do at new years, and (to bury the lead) last night my Dad died. He was 52. His liver gave out on him and... that was that. So, distractions are a good thing.
I am so sorry for your loss.

i've tried so hard to adapt that method of thinking. An every time I'm able to mentally lift myself up it feels like I get knocked back down...

for example, I'm trying to FINALLY move out of my parents place again... the cheapest apartments I can find (that are in neighborhoods where I wont get robbed or shot) are 850-900 for a 1 bedroom and have the requirement that you need to make 3x the rent as your income. Even though I have decent credit and I'm frugal enough to be able to pay that much, they simply won't let me get my foot in the door because of that rule.

there's no shame living at home. I live with 5 other people. Allows you to save for the future.
