So... does anyone know why a computer would just completely die, like the power button not do anything when you press it?

Cause my computer did that. I unplugged it to see if the plug was broken and it's not, but when I plugged it back in it started working again...

Pretty much. That breaker in the PSU is like the giant "OH SHIT!" button. The little elves inside saw an imminent meltdown and hit the kill switch. Problem is, because their first course of action is to hit the kill switch, it doesn't give you much info as to why. EDIT But, maybe not, as the shutdown process was skipped due to an "all stop."

You can wait to start worrying until it happens again, but then start worrying.

If it's a heat issue, you can open the case and then turn it on and make sure all the fans are working. Or just point a table fan at it.
