the guys who are taking over my community kat duties since i left my last residence of nearly 16 years, texted me last night with a pic of a sweet orange kitty about one year old. Did i know this cat? no, not this one. they said he showed up several days ago, promptly went into their house and won't leave, not TNR'd and they said he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Just sweet. i get so disgusted with people who dump kitties, especially if they appear they were somewhat cared for. it happened to me so many times over the years there and it happened to the elderly lady before me. people see a place where strays are cared for and they think it's a good place to dump them. never mind the cost of food, vet bills and that nasty TNR bill if they've not been done, though there is cat welfare to help with that. It still has to be done. These guys moved into this house about three or four years ago and are fixing it up. their back yard is a lot in itself so, they set it up this year with landscaping. and an area for cats to congregate and they get them. i think word spreads quickly in the kitty world. pot luck at this house! they have a kitty door in their front fence and one in their back fence and a private kitty shelter that one of them made with four shelters in it and escape hatches front and back in each. i feel kind of bad that i left them with all of that. i paid my dues with help from several neighbors. i'm just happy someone else is willing to pick up that job and are in a better position than me to do it.
To be fair i have to add that over the years "angels" dropped unopened food bags and cans on my front steps, to whom i am forever grateful.

up here, people are willing to pay quite a bit for kittens. And cats are routinely adopted (within an hour or so) from our town facebook page. There are so few animals around!

That's good to hear. several of the ones I cared for got adopted over the years, especially one cold, cold January. buster the top feral just walked in my house and refused to leave, one neighbor took in one from my pack, another that was just lost from his street i think, had been chipped and when my neighbor took him to vet for check up, it was found and the original care takers came and got him immediately. they live a street over and had the cat chipped when they tnr'd it. now that cat doesn't go out anymore. another neighbor took another cat that showed up one morning in my next door neighbor's car engine. and my neighbor's husband took in a stray kitten that appeared one day. there have been at least four that we sent to cat welfare, a no kill shelter. i just can't believe what people do,
