I've only read his Stormlight Archive series, but I loved it. I want to re-read it in physical format but my library doesn't have it.
I'm an ebook/audiobook person these days. I moved about 20 times carrying around a ton of books and it broke me of wanting physical copies of anything. I would like to read Malazan on paper but just can't force myself to buy them given my stance on physical books and my local library sucks as well. Having a library in my pocket at almost all times has been one of the best things to come from technology IMO. I miss the feel of "real" books but you can't beat having them with you all the time in one small device.

Sanderson is always a good choice. Since we're all on lockdown I decided to go through Malazan... again. Wish there were more series like it. Been through it like 5 times now and still finding new things.

I love that Sanderson writes so much but it can be frustrating because he has so many series going at once. I'm impatient and want series to be finished. At some point I'd like to read EVERYTHING of his again once he's done with all the series he has going and planned. Assuming he and I both live that long.
I haven't heard of that series, I'll have to check it out.

Agreed on all the projects he's got going. I've heard very middling reviews about the more "teen" books he's writing these days, wish he'd hurry up and get Stormlight book 4 out, also the last Wax and Wayne Mistborn book.

Luckily he's young enough to not be in that GRRM-type grey area of "soooo...you could kick it any minute now and you're writing side series?"

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but one of my all time favourite book series is the Silo Series - Wool by Hugh Howey. If you are a Kindle Unlimited user, it is available on there. I read over 300 books a year, so e-books and KU is kind of a requirement for me or I'd be totally broke. Despite all of those books, Wool continues to be in my top 3 *ever*.

I'd recommend the Mistborn series. You can get through a trilogy in about the time it takes to read a SA book and a half or so. Also, if you pay close attention there are random little Easter eggs between the Mistborn world and Roshar (and other books apparently, especially Hoid doing his world hopping). I had to look most of them up online after readying though and was like "OHHH".

You haven't heard of The Malazan Book Of The Fallen? OMG!!! IMO it's among the best (if not the best) fantasy series I've read.. and I've read most of them at this point. A few people have mentioned it in this thread. If you like the feeling of putting together the pieces of the puzzle in the cosmere then you'd probably enjoy that aspect of Malazan. Some people find it difficult to get into but I think it's overblown. He just takes all your expectations, tropes, etc. and turns them on their heads. He doesn't spend tons of time with exposition telling you things. You glean everything you need to know from the story as it goes. It can be frustrating to start with because it's not how most authors do things. He doesn't do info dumps and you just sort of show up to the story that's already underway. As it progresses you piece together all the things you scratch your head about to start with. It's an investment of time because it's so long too so that turns some people off as well. If you read a ton and enjoy fantasy then you should put it on your list. If not it might not be for you. I'm always looking for people to discuss it with. I live in a rural area and getting ANYONE to read is like pulling teeth. If you pick it up and have questions shoot me a message.

I'll definitely add it to the list. 10 books seems pretty reasonable for me, though I'll probably put it on the list after a few standalone ones I've been meaning to knock out. Thanks for the rec!

I don't like ebooks or audiobooks. For some reason I can totally love an ebook but then after I'm done reading it I couldn't tell you what the book was about. I don't absorb it like I do a physical copy. So ebooks are a no-go for me.

If it were super important and I NEEDED to remember it I'd want a physical copy most likely. But for entertainment I'm good with digital formats. I like audio books but I read so much faster I can only use them at times i wouldn't be able to read. And even then I usually speed it up to 1.5x or higher sometimes.

10 books in the primary series... if you enjoy them there are another 10+ or so by him and another author in the same world with a few more planned. They aren't necessary to understand the 10 but add stuff on etc. mostly prequel/sequel/side story stuff. Still enjoyable but when someone says "Malazan" they are usually referring to the main 10 books. Hope you enjoy it.

Love those books so much.

I unfortunately can't be quarantined since I'm considered "Essential staff" so I don't get any reading time ?

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee has been on my to-read list for years. I finally read it and oh. my. gosh. It's in my top 10 favorite books now. It's SO good. 10/10 highly recommend
