I'm having difficulty getting any sign ups for a task involving scheduling a 30 minute phone call. I've seen others try to do similar tasks successfully, but I'm still running into problems.

I'm offering $20 for a 30-minute phone call and give the description "Within the next 3 hours, you will click a link to a calendar app to schedule a 30 minute phone interview, dial in to a conference call line, have a conversation and then fill out a quick survey". I've set the task to last for 3 hours and, for now, i'm just releasing 1 HIT at a time. I do this because I begin the task when I have openings to do the survey phone interview in the afternoons or evenings.

The initial page links to a google doc, where the tasker has to schedule a call on my calend.ly app (i give about a 3 hour time window) and a conference call line to call into.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, i just dont know enough about the other side of things to know where it's going wrong. Thanks for any help and let me know if I can make this question more clear!

I'm only a turker and haven't seen the requester side, but here's a couple things I've seen over the past few years:

- If you are releasing only one at a time, it could be that the person grabbing that HIT doesn't want to talk on the phone and just isn't scheduling the interview. This isn't allowing anyone else to grab the hit until they release back into the marketplace. This could, unfortunately, be the full 3 hours until the HIT expires if they don't manually decide to return.

- If you have multiple times that you know you will be available, you could release multiple HITs at a lower rate, for example, .05, and pay the rest as a bonus upon completion of the interview. I've seen a few requesters set up interviews or multi-day HITs like this and extend the timer 24-48 hours.

-Does the calendar function you use allow for limits on the amount of people scheduling? So if two people try to schedule, say for 7:30, will it only allow one person and gray that block out for someone else? If it does, this could help fill your interviews better within the times you need without just releasing one HIT at a time.

I hope this helps!

oh interesting! So, do turkers know that? Like, I can pay $1 and then when they enter the task, i say that the rest of it is paid upon finishing as a bonus? I didn't even know what was possible. And, do the turkers have to trust me to pay the bonus?

And, yeah, its calendly, so anytime a slot is select it automatically removes it from the options. Is there any to pre-quality turkers so they don't take up the entire time? or will i have to just have to up front a bunch of money to have enough slots? thanks for the help!

Seasoned turkers are more used to the bonus system, but you are right about the trust issue. I think as long as you are communicative and state in the HIT about the additional bonus payment amount upon completion of the interview, you'll still get interest.

You can qual turkers, but that usually requires an initial HIT to go out so that you could make a qualification. Another possibility would be for you to set up a small HIT (again maybe .05-.10) and just have a short form for turkers to fill out with their time availability and coordinate from there.
