My first day was a month and a half ago. I've had $2 days and $30 days, I have yet to have more than that. For most people this is not "job money" though there are some things you can do:

Be there early (I can't do that for various reasons, at least most of the time).

Upgrade your tools (HITScraper is an example, but they're all imperfect, and they don't do much until you customize them).

Learn. Keep learning. This is a good place to do that. All kinds of help in various sub-forums.

The last few days have been terrible for easy batches (fast HITs you can do lots of in a row), and you *need( something like PandaCrazy for those. Most of the good ones are even out of my reach, they require certain things (like 30k hits under your belt, or qualifications).

The qualifications are the big barrier and they tend to come with time, learn to keep an eye out for them, some of them get posted here when they arrive.

Edit: There are people who have $100 days but it takes a while to get there and it doesn't happen every day. "A while" means a while, unfortunately, there's never a guarantee.
Very well done, Merovign @Merovign.

They're super useful. These are some of the general qualifications that will prevent you from seeing as many HITs as others, if not done. No answer can be the same as the wrong demographic, which will cause some HITs to be hidden altogether.

Otherwise, and previously, known as Basic Qualifications.

Hey I'm Cat and I'm new to turking. Today's my third day and right now I've made about $18 total and I made over $10 today. I've been working for at least 4-5 hours for the past 3 days starting around 9:30am EST. My first day I downloaded Turkopticon.

This morning I downloaded and used HIT Finder on MTurk Suite and I set my minimum for $0.40. A few times today I went down to $0.10 just to see more results. Right now I'm at 127 approved hits and 54 pending.

It feels it's slow today and I ran out of surveys and other things to do. Is it because I'm under 500 approved HITs? And how can I be more productive? because 5 hours for around $10..sheesh...:cautious:
Rather than setting a filter so high, work on creating a good block list without using the filter. A good portion of good paying hits pay just a nickel or less.

Some of the best paying hits are one click .03 hits that come around in various forms.

It would be a good practice to read TO reviews before blocking someone, or at least getting a feel for how many reviews have been left. If there are a bunch of reviews and the req. still have a bad rep, I block them, and don't bother to read the reviews. Some of the requesters that might only have one or two reviews, I'll at least look at the task first.

There are a few requesters that should be pretty obvious to block...just because their constant posting of hits is annoying and rarely pay well (receipts and most transcription)

But everyone has their own experience. It's good to try out lots of different hits in the beginning, just to get a good feel for what you're good at.

Let us know when you have questions or need anything.

Some people really like transcriptions. It's a knack/personality thing. Some people can't stand them. If there are some short ones from people like Crowdsurf Support that you might try. I've never had a rejection but I didn't do many. Read instructions carefully.

I miss A9's terribly at this point. They're posted by Amazon and some are better than others, I got a decent chunk of my 14k hits from them in the last month. Take a couple of seconds each, to several seconds depending on the version. The exact match ones were a couple of seconds. Never had a rejected one (I think they're automatically compared to each other and you have to do really badly to have a problem).

And now I have to find out why Tampermonkey went all wacky after the last restart. (sigh)

Also, watch new stuff pop up, either with a scraper or just by sorting by post time. New stuff pops up at different times of the day.

I made about $400 in my first month plus about $35-40 on Prolific, but $12 of that was the first day and it's been harder to catch stuff there. Consider more than one source of income, but it's 100% fine to get used to one first before adding another.

Starting out sucks for everyone. There is a pretty significant learning curve. Reading this is a good place to start:

Just keeping the forum on in the background and keeping up with the main thread will help you figure out what's worth working on, but it will take some time.
Thanks, that's good to know. I just read that guide and I know I'll read it a few more times in the future lol

Thanks! I'll download HITScraper and PandaCrazy right now. I thought MTurk Suite and Turkopticon was enough but I guess not :tearsofjoy:

During probation, any money is good and $10 is pretty standard. But, definitely gotta start with the basics. Everyone I know started by also making $5-$10 a day during probation(my best was $16 in 12 hours:p) It's not like starting a job where you make the same in training as you do when you're trained up. Think of it more like running your own business.(I think lemonade stand but, whatever) But, right now, you're starting a new business, in a new field, with tools that you aren't completely familiar with yet.
Unfortunately, but most importantly, a LOT(most) of your time during probation(10days) should be spent learning, so that you'll know what you're doing when the flood gates open and you can do as many HITs as you want(up to 3800). And, when you're learning, while trying to make money, most of the benefit that you're going to get is in the form of qualifications and skills that you will be able to use to make real money down the road, not cash. But, there is a reason that a lot of people end up here from r/beermoney. That's about the amount you make until you get your feet under you, so to speak.
Best suggestion is to read what TSolo315 @TSolo315 quoted and the links from that post. The information found there will be invaluable and will give you the foundation on which to build your turk business, making you more productive in the long run, and more adaptable to changing situations that occur frequently on MTurk.

Words of wisdom below...

But, catscratch @catscratch good luck. If everyone could make a living wage right off the bat, everyone would be doing it. Let us know if we can help.
:)
I never even heard about beermoney...the more you know lol Thanks for the advice. I'll be keeping this forum open if I have any questions

I wonder what happens if down the line your information for these changes?
It says they're revocable in the description. I don't know if you have to wait for the next posting to update if you do that.

MTS has HitFinder, but I don't like how the HITs jump around.

The author has a new paid product I intend to try soon, it's getting good reviews so far.

True, I haven't blocked anyone but I was wondering if I should based on the reviews. Thanks. I'll be back with the questions soon enough :blackalien:

The way I, as well as lots(most) of others I've found, solve that problem is to close that 'Recent HITs' tab entirely, at the top(left) and just use 'Logged HITs' which doesn't move like that. But, everyone likes to do it different.:)

EDIT I don't think anybody "likes" using 'Recent' because of that.
