While y'all are stuck here in the morning, I'm way out here at night. Should be asleep but I think I'll do another one or two short transcriptions. They've started approving but it's irregular, so I'm still a little nervous.

$2.72 so far, not great at $1.81 an hour, but we'll see how things go when I wake up in 8 hours or so.

Good Turking, and good luck getting the creaking bureaucracy moving, greg!

Thanks. I sent the identity documents and whatnot to their "secure fax" yesterday morning about this time, so I can only hope they get to it this week. I can't believe a company like amazon still uses fax machines. That's completely ridiculous.

At least I got all the approved $ out. I had a bunch pending, but I make it a habit to empty my account every night.

That you even got a fax number and request to send something is a good sign, I think.

$3.52 and I really should be tired by now. :/

They put the fax number in the original suspension notice. I emailed the general support address and a person wrote back saying that team only responds to the fax machine. It feels like 1990 and I'm back working at the nuclear power plant (yes, that was one of my first jobs...)

I'm guessing they feel it's a "security feature", whereas it's a bit more difficult to forge a fax, over a scanned document. Also, I think faxes are less likely to be intercepted, or stored on a hard drive somewhere. Theoretically, they could verify the doc, then destroy it(not that they will). Lastly, it may actually speed things along, as it is probably is treated as an 'escalated' situation, if they receive a fax.
I could be entirely wrong and, I understand that it feels old school.:)

The ironic thing is that I took a picture of my driver's license with my phone and uploaded it to one of those free fax services in order to send it (because who owns a fax machine?) If I had photoshop I could have totally doctored the image before I uploaded it. And I'm 99% sure the person in India who is reviewing my documents has never actually seen a Maine Driver's License. I should have uploaded this one just for sport:

I hear you. I'm pretty sure that, unless you know you sent it to an Indian fax number, it'll be reviewed in the US, just because it would need to be for the IRS to accept it as 'verified', if I'm not mistaken. But, I know what you mean.

Alright, just had a fresh coffee and one of the best old fashioned donuts in Maine.(not Holy Donut) Gonna take some meds and close my eyes for an hour and a half, while listening to an episode of Brokenwood Mysteries(AU tv). Back in a bit. Have fun.:)

Aren't all faxes reviewed electronically anyway? We had fax-to-email back way back in 1995. I can't imagine there is a literal fax machine somewhere in the Amazon jungle spewing out those curly sheets of thermal paper. Maybe I'm wrong! :D
