That's good when you've got a low number of HITs. But, when you've got more numbers you can allow for significantly more risk. The goal is to not do any more than you could get rejected and still keep your approval rating above 99%. That's why doing safe "numbers" is very important when your total submitted HITs is low.
Hello to the Crowd...
I'm new to MTurk (2 weeks) and the "Ramsey Cannabis HIT" nearly killed my account.
I carefully made the "test-HITs" before I invested more time. My first 2 HITs (more than one question) got approved/paid and after a certain waiting time, when the new big batch came in, I made 38 HITs, 33 rejected with feedback "failed question test" and just 5 HITs from the big batch approved.
Before with an approval rate of more than 99.5% I'm now down on 95.31% - more than angry - and I've already politely contacted the requester, but of course no answer until now.
I'm very sure that I gave the correct answers and cannot believe my eyes when I look at the dashboard. The HIT's also were not named as some kind of a test, so what about a feedback like "failed question test"? This has nothing to do with fairness.

After 2.5 years on Mturk, I just now realized that I've been consistently providing the wrong answer to the question
If it takes 5 machines 5 minutes to make 5 widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?

I made a few comments about that in the last week or two. If you are being so pigeonholey to ask, then get the question correct.
it's like they're so close to actually getting it, but so far away so I click male because that is actually my gender.

Took me 2 years to start doing the lily pads right.

Dear requesters, transgender is not my gender. It's an adjective.
I always does a facepalm when requesters put transgender as a gender. Even, if they put trans man or trans woman separately from man or woman it implies that trans people can't really and truly identify fully as women or men. I say this as a trans man myself.

If it was a survey that focuses on trans* spectrum (or LGBTQ+ community more broadly), then I can see there being an option for trans man or trans woman, not to mention all the other ways someone might identify outside of the binary.

I'll select trans male when it's there because I appreciate it for demographic purposes. Also, high five.

It sucks that they are baby steps, but at least some people are making some :)
They still can't get race/ethnicity right either.
I agree, it is progress. I just always have to laugh when I see, "Sexuality: heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transsexual" (or something along those lines.)

High five back.

I select trans male when it's there as well. If the options are either male or transgender, what I'll select depends on my mood.

I've noticed a steady decline in transsexual/transgender being listed as a sexuality in the over 7 years I've been doing surveys on various sites. Hopefully that trend continues to where it is basically non-existent.
