Happens to me all the time. Even in a rice cooker. I put in the correct amount of rice and water, yet half the time I have to add water. I think it depends on the type of rice (not just brown vs. white, as brown rice always requires more water...but the actual type of white rice).

The car he inherits is a hatchback

He can buy himself a better car if he wants, and I'll sell my current one to help him buy it, but I'm not buying him one flat out. I'll buy myself one flat out and hand down the current Mom-mobile. He's actually totally fine with that. He would rather have nice teeth.

kids nowadays, I had to buy every one of my cars and motorcycles. Got a after school job at a junkyard pulling parts, paid decent for back then, but I worked my tail off. my kids all got hand me downs, either mom's car or my truck, or their older siblings car when they left
