One of mTurks newest improvements is a new message for when you are unable to accept a HIT.

There are no HITs in this group available to you at the moment. (Why?)
  • There are no more HITs available to Workers for this HIT group.
  • You have accepted each HIT in the group. Each HIT has been submitted, returned, or has expired.
  • All the HITs in the HIT group have been accepted by Workers.
  • The HIT group is experiencing extremely high demand and is not available to new Workers at the moment.
The newest thing on this list is "The HIT group is experiencing extremely high demand and is not available to new Workers at the moment.", and this is what we refer to as batch throttling. You will notice this with popular batches such as the Ibotta - Are these receipts the same? HITs. This means that there are too many people trying to accept the HITs from the batch, and mTurk now limits the amount of people per batch (number unknown), so you were denied and booted to the no HITs available message. The only thing you can do is try again to accept the HIT again.

"mTurk now limits the amount of people per batch (number unknown)"

WTF? Do the requesters know this? Do they get a say in how many people mTurk decides to allow on their batches? Isn't the point that a requester wants to get as many different possible people working on a batch, more often than not, and if they only wanted a certain number of people working on it, they would have set up a qual?

Why is Amazon doing everything in its power to completely and totally destroy this entire platform, and make it even HARDER for people to make any money on here? WTH is their poblem?

Requesters don't have control over it, its seems like it was in response to all those times that the big batches (like the Feb. 2016 sergeys) were getting lag and causing issues.

I'm assuming this saves them money? (or is it just headaches - in the IT dept?)

Do they not realize yet that throttling just results in ten times the refreshes?

Is there a different motivation for doing it?

I don't get it.
