i'm dumb. I did search but I cant see nothing. How do I work live thread update exactly?
in Thread tools there's an option for Live Update and Jump to Post.

Those both should be on, live update will just auto refresh every minute or so and post jump will jump to the bottom. Most everyone turns off post jump.

Just this week, only when I'm signing in, I've been receiving warnings that the forum website is unsafe. Most recent Firefox version on an I3 PC using Windows Defender. Thanks.

It's because we don't have the https completed yet. The site is safe.

request/question if it already exists somewhere - an easy way to like pin threads somewhere to make them v. easy to find again (not bookmarks or anything, more like a list in the menu bar under the forum tab (where it says mark forums read etc)

in other words, if I wanted easy access to the Music Thread so that I post in there more often or something, and I don't want to use my browser bookmarks for it.
dunno, just a thought I had while looking for the music thread :)

You can bookmark a post in the thread, such as the first post of the thread you want to mark, and it'll be under your bookmarks tab.

that's fair, I can make them public bookmarks or something so they don't get lost in all the other ones I have, as it doesn't look like there's a ton of options for sorting them. ty for the quick reply!

Would it be possible to make posts from requester accounts visible in HITs Only mode? They're usually posting about something work related, and you'll miss stuff from like IPsoft AWS Account @IPsoft AWS Account otherwise.

Any way to turn off all the gifs / moving pictures? I know other mturk forums have had this option. I think I tried every option under preferences but nothing seemed to stop them.

Top of the thread under thread tools, there's options in there for that.

Edit - spoiler media and or hits only

I know a lot of people get annoyed at chatter in the main work thread. But when I first really joined the internet and a forum. We had a discussion topic just called random thoughts. This lasted for 9 years and ended up with like 55 thousand messages. Maybe just a suggestion for a random thoughts thread in the work section and somehow set it up side by side. Where we can click on the work thread also. Like a subsection almost. We can have our hits and our chatter.

You mean having a chat thread in one tab and having the daily work thread in another tab?

It wasnt like a live chat. It was just like our work thread. But it was just titled random thoughts. What I mean by subsection. Like when you click on general discussion here and there's forum games. I wouldn't really know how you'd implement to be honest. I've never ran a forum. Whatever way you could get it work. Or whatever you think guys think would be best. Just throwing the idea out there. And you would never have to start a new random thoughts unless it crashed or something. We let it go and go.

to be honest i've wanted to suggest something like this before as well, but was worried it'd be called dumb or something :p i know the forum has a feature that shows HITs only, but if I wanted a true "work only" mode, that doesn't really satisfy it since people talk about HITs without quoting a HIT posts, or you miss some back and forth between quotes

Yeah. I really enjoy the banter and a lot of it is my fault. I do forget it's daily work thread.

One idea with random thoughts. Is people can have two mtc tabs open. One work thread and then random thoughts. Easy discussion still. I realize you said that. But I mean not an actual chat room. Just two tabs but I also realize there's an irc room. I dunno. I'm rambling ahh

I don't think anyone would think that it's dumb. We've actually had a lot of discussions about doing this in the past (mostly on mtg though) and the consensus was that people didn't want to switch tabs from one thread to another. If this is something that members would be interested in, someone could post a thread and direct members for their opinions to feel it out and see what everyone thinks.

i also want to add another reason I never suggested it is because i'm aware of some of the drawbacks: a lot of people won't want to switch between two threads (as far as I know, mturk forums have always had one thread as a catch-all chat thread and work thread), and it would also be another load on the mods to moderate two separate threads. but i guess point one depends on whether it becomes a "thing" in the first place

I still really like the idea in theory though, maybe less newer members would feel left out from having their questions ignored/missed in a fast thread, and maybe more requesters would be willing to chat about their HITs in the thread instead of having to make their own thread that most people don't check out anyway

i'm also kind of latching on to what kryssyy said, it seems like what you want is kind of like the @mention thread, except instead of mentioning people you mention a random thought you had or something random that happened during your day
